IMPORTANT INFORMATION
you MUST read about your
new blue card:

  • DO NOT activate and begin using your new BLUE Western Debit or ATM card Until FEBRUARY 20, 2008. You will need to continue using your old RED card until Midnight February 19, 2008.
  • If you have automatic charges posting to your account using your Western Credit Union Debit MasterCard, you will need to notify each merchant with your new card information.
  • If you are currently enrolled in MasterCard secure you will need to re-enroll with your new card to continue service by clicking here.

 

Frequently Asked Questions about the new blue cards

Q: Why am I getting a new BLUE ATM or Debit Card?  

A: Western Credit Union strives to give value and convenience to our members. The new ATM or Debit card you receive will allow us to increase the safety of our systems to protect your account and give you the strength and availability of the STAR network.

Q: How do I activate my new card?

 A : You may simply use it with your PIN at any Western Credit Union, Inc. ATM, or call Western Credit Union’s automated phone system from your home telephone at 866-985-2273.

Q: What happens if I don’t activate my card?

A: Your old RED card will no longer work after Midnight - February 19, 2008.

Q: I’m enrolled in MasterCard Secure, the password-protected identity-checking service that helps take the risk out of online shopping. Will that continue with my new card?

A: Yes, but you will need to re-enroll in the program by going to Western's MasterCard Secure site here.

Q: What should I do with my old RED card once I get my new card?

A: After you have successfully activated your new card, then please destroy the old card by cutting it up into multiple pieces or 'shRED' your card. If you do not have a shREDder, please bring it to a Western Credit Union Solution Center and we will shRED it for you.

Q: I just received a new card in January 2008. Will I get another card in February 2008?

A: Yes, to ensure no interruption in your ATM card or Debit Card access it was necessary to send a card in January.

Q: Will I have to change my PIN (Personal Identification Number)?

A: Yes, your PIN will need to be changed. This can be done one of two ways:

  • You may call the number on the card.    OR
  • Visit a WCU ATM and follow the “on screen” instructions to change your PIN.

Q: I have some automatic charges posting to my account using my Western Credit UnionMasterCard Debit card. Do I need to notify the merchant with my new card information?

A: Yes, please provide your new card number to any merchants who are sending automatic debiting to your account using your MasterCard Debit card account.
