Kids- About Credit Unions

For Kids: What is a Credit Union?

A credit union is a place where a group of people save their money and borrow money to buy things like cars and homes.

Members of a credit union deposit their money with the credit union, and earn dividends on the money deposited. Dividends is the money that your money earns by you giving it to the credit union to lend out to other Members.

This money is given out as a loan to other Members, who pay the credit union extra money, called interest, for taking out the loan. The credit union pays you for letting us use your money!

That means you can earn even more money just by keeping your money in the account! That money is there for you to use whenever you need it, in a safe place so you don't have to worry about losing it. Western Credit Union provides the best service for Members of all ages!
